When Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in the regular-season finale at Cleveland, he was perhaps playing as well as he had at any point of the season. The previous week, Mendenhall had lit up a shaky Rams run defense for 116 yards on 18 carries, with a 52-yard rush and a 35-yard reception as highlights. Not lacking for long speed, Mendenhall has proven that he can be very dangerous if he gets a lane and gets into the secondary. Now, the 24-year-old Mendenhall faces a period of recuperation and rehabilitation as he works to return for his fifth NFL season. In an interview with PFW Wednesday, Mendenhall's agent, Rick Smith, said that Mendenhall's injury was a "standard" ACL tear, with a recovery timetable of "6-9 months," he said.

Report: Steelers' Pouncey to miss wild-card game vs. Broncos

Already set to face the Denver Broncos without starting safety Ryan Clark and first-string running back Rashard Mendenhall, the Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly got more bad news Friday on the injury front heading into Sunday's AFC Wild Card Game.

Road Map To Super Bowl XLVI: Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers may be limping into Denver on Sunday with Ben Roethlisberger hobbled by a high ankle sprain (which has made everyone forget that he has a broken thumb on his throwing hand) and Rashard Mendenhall shelved for the playoffs. Add in that Ryan Clark can not play with his Sickle Cell Trait, but there is a bright side...the Denver Broncos are not that good. Pittsburgh...

Battle Tested and Ready to Go

By Jeremy Hritz Sure, the ankle of Ben Roethlisberger is hurt. Probably even more so than it was last week. Yes, Rashard Mendenhall is done for the year, and possibly until October. Correct. The up-and-coming corner Cortez Allen is out, and Keenan Lewis, though he will play, is dealing with a hamstring. Combine all of this with the return of Doug Legursky and LaMarr Woodley, both...

Steelers-Broncos Preview

The defending AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers head into the playoffs with Ben Roethlisberger nursing a severely sprained left ankle and Rashard Mendenhall out with a torn ACL.
