The Rap Sheet:
Alge Crumpler was among the Patriots’ steadiest players last season, not missing a game and serving as a crushing blocker. He did it all with a serious shoulder injury.
His agent James D. “Butch” Williams confirmed to me that Crumpler underwent shoulder surgery to repair a problem in his joint. He didn’t give a specific time table, saying, “He’s taking it day-by-day.”
Williams did say the captain played with it for much of the season (though he wasn’t listed on the injury report). As for worries about whether he’ll be ready for 2011, Williams said he doesn’t have any.
“Based on the reports of the doctors, he plans on playing next year,” Williams told me. “He’s working hard to get it right.”
