Amazon may pursue Hall of Famer Peyton Manning for TNF role

Peyton Manning is one of the most desirable assets for NFL broadcasters. So, will he finally take a job?

According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Amazon has "grappled with the idea" of pursuing Manning as its leading analyst for Thursday Night Football. Amazon Prime Video's rights to TNF will begin next season.

Amazon could try to draw Manning in with a contract similar to Tony Romo's and the possibility of teaming up with Al Michaels, Marchand says. Romo received a 10-year, $180 million deal from CBS.

The Hall of Famer has reportedly turned down multiple offers from ESPN and Fox since retiring from football after the 2015 campaign. However, Manning has been on television despite turning down an analyst role. He hosts "Peyton's Places" and "Detail" on ESPN+ and also has competed in The Match. 

Manning is one of the best quarterbacks of all time, so it's no surprise he's being pursued for a TV role. 

In addition to Romo, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who recently retired, is also taking the television route for his post-playing career. The former signal-caller is joining NBC's Sunday Night Football. 

Maybe someday Manning will make his way into an analyst role. Perhaps Amazon will be the one who lands him.
