It is not every day that I get to do an e-mail interview with both a father and a son.

That chance came this week as I got to do an e-mail interview with Mike McKenzie, Bob McKenzie’s, the Hockey Insider, son.

McKenzie, currently a professional hockey player for the ECHL’s Florida Everblades, was kind enough to take time out of his busy schedule to tell us about how he got into the game, how he became a pro hockey player, his experience thus far with the Everblades and of course, thoughts on his relationship with his family and mainly, the Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie.

PH: How did you get into hockey?
MM: I was born into a hockey family. My fathers job and love for the game basically forced me into the game but it was not long at all until I developed my own passion for the game at a very young age. The first time I played hockey was before I turned four at a pond near our house and ever since then I have had a passion for the game.
