With the departure of Amhad Bradshaw, Andre Brown has a shot at winning the starting running back job for the New York Giants. The well traveled Brown has made stops in Carolina, Indianapolis, Denver, and Washington, but New York is his first chance at a real opportunity. He feels like it’s his first year in the NFL, and this will be his first off-season to compete for a starting position. Brown wants to give David Wilson and whoever Tom Coughlin brings in for competition, a run for their money. “Oh yes, I’m going to prepare to be a starter,’’ Brown said, via Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. “That’s the dream job right there, to go out there and start and play for the New York Giants. I would love to do that. I’m going to put as much work as I need to put in to prepare for that role, if it happens to be me, put that faith in them that they can rely on me.’’ “Dave’s so explosive, he will give you that big play,’’ Brown said. “I’m going to go in there, I’m going to grind it out, catch the ball out of the backfield and be a capable third-down back, getting the hard yards, short-yardage and goal line, I’m that guy.’’ “My journey is tough,’’ Brown said. “My journeys taught me don’t just think everything is just going to go the way you think it’s going to go. You have to go out there and work, and when the opportunity arrives you got to seize it. It ain’t what you expect.’’ “I still feel I’m still young, like I’m just getting into the league,’’ Brown said. “If you really think about it my first year was last year, you can consider that my rookie year because I never played a whole active season. If they bring in another guy I don’t know what I’d think, but that would just fuel me to go out there and be better.’’   var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
