In what was widely viewed as a precautionary measure, the Houston Texans held WR Andre Johnson and ILB Brian Cushing out of last Saturday’s 26-13 preseason win against the Carolina Panthers. Johnson (groin pull) and Cushing (virus) had practiced in the days leading up to the Panther game, but since this is just the preseason, the Texans coaching staff decided to rest two of their star players. It’s now been revealed that both Johnson and Cushing will be active and play this upcoming Saturday against the San Francisco 49ers. Starting NT Shaun Cody however will not be as fortunate as he suffered a back injury during Saturday’s contest and is still in the evaluation process. The severity of Cody’s injured back is still undetermined, but it’s known to be a disk issue, which could wind up being a major cause for concern. When asked for an update by the media, head coach Gary Kubiak commented, “He’s got a disk issue. We’re still in an evaluation process. He received an epidural (for pain relief)
