Following the inspiration provided by ailing coach Chuck Pagano of the Indianapolis Colts, rookie quarterback Andrew Luck then delivered a record-setting performance in another surprising win. Luck ousted the Dolphins, breaking Carolina’s Cam Newton’s year-old record for passing yards in a game by a rookie quarterback. This however, did not concern Luck, nor another victory from his team. He focussed mostly on living up to the message from his coach, who has been fighting leukemia since he was diagnosed on September 26th. “His presence is felt every day in the facility,” said Luck. “But to see him in the flesh, in the locker room, to hear him speak I think gave all the guys a boost.” Luck threw for 433 yards and two touchdowns. Cam Newton set the record last year with 432 passing yards. Luck also tied another record by becoming the NFL’s second rookie quarterback to have four 300-yard games in a season. The other quarterback just so happens to be the elite that he replaced; Peyton Manning. With half a season to go, Luck could set that bar higher if he continues to produce like he has.
