From what I can glean from watching interviews, press conferences, and the like is that Colts QB Andrew Luck isn’t a flashy, in-your-face type of guy.  He doesn’t do a zillion commercials like his predecessor Peyton Manning, he doesn’t wed and impregnate (so far as I know) world famous supermodels like Tom Brady, and he doesn’t rock the body ink like Colin Kaepernick. Know what else Luck doesn’t have in common with, say, every other quarterback in the league? A cell phone that was made this century. Thanks to his newly signed backup, Matt Hasselbeck, it was revealed that the budding young superstar signal caller for the Colts still uses an ancient—and somewhat dinged up—Samsung flip phone, which is a rather odd choice for someone making $5.5 million a season (with a $14.5 million signing bonus). It doesn’t appear to be so old that it still requires an antenna, so he’s got that going for him. True story… Andrew Luck’s cell phone. #impressive twitpic.com/cjv4ez — Matthew Hasselbeck (@Hasselbeck) April 16, 2013 Sweet. And look, you can even take pictures with it…crappy, 2 megapixel quality pictures where everything comes out looking like an 8-bit character from Tecmo Bowl. And another angle (notice the multiple chips in the case)… Yessir.. twitpic.com/cjv4hz — Matthew Hasselbeck (@Hasselbeck) April 16, 2013 Since Luck’s social media presence is somewhere south of zero, it would seem perfectly acceptable to carry around a phone that is simply just a phone, and not something more powerful like an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy. And hey, if he’s OK with the awkward stares he gets from people when he pulls out his archaic, $10 flip phone and makes a call, then more power to him.
