After the Panthers dumped the Eagles on Monday night to drop Philadelphia's record to 3-8, coach Andy Reid's fate most likely was sealed. Before the season, owner Jeffrey Lurie made it clear that an 8-8 record was unacceptable, so even if the Eagles win the next five games, it seems clear that Reid will have to go.
Although the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane wrote a column after the game saying now might be the time to release Reid -- not necessarily a bad thought, I might add -- Lurie and Reid did not talk immediately after the game.
We haven't talked about that," Reid said in his postgame press conference, via CSN Philly. He's been supportive. Obviously, he's as competitive as anybody. He wants to win games. That's why he's in this business. But we really haven't gone there.
Although the best stat of the week informs us that the Phillies have won more recently than the Eagles (a 2-0 Phils victory against the Nationals on Oct. 1 compared to the Eagles' 19-17 win over the Giants on Sept. 30), Reid doesn't seem concerned with his own future.
We're going to keep battling, Reid said. I have to do a better job with that, obviously, by how we played here. I'm not worried about all of the other things.
His players, meanwhile, are concerned for him.
I feel bad for Andy, tight end Brent Celek said. He's in a horrible situation, in a town that's critical -- and rightly so. If I was the fans I'd be mad, too. I don't see Andy as the problem here. I see it as us. We're in positions to make plays and do things right, and we're just not doing them. Source: CBS Sports Attached Thumbnails

Andy Reid’s Seat Gets Even Hotter, Although He Claims Eagles Owner Jeffrey Lurie Has Been ‘Supportive’
