Amid the disappointing 2011 season of the Philadelphia Eagles season, team president Jeffrey Lurie addressed the media this afternoon and said that Andy Reid will return to be the head coach in 2012. However, in his opening statements before announcing that Reid would return, Lurie fired a vocal shot across the bow of Andy Reid’s tenure.
The Eagles owner said that 2011 was “the most disappointing season since I’ve owned the team”. He continued on to say that there should be no excuses to take as long as it took this season to gel. He also called the Eagles four-game win streak which concluded the regular season as “Fool’s gold” with the Eagles defeating what he called teams with inferior talent and not playoff teams.
