Found September 09, 2013 on Bay Sports Report:
The San Francisco 49ers grinded out a phenomenal 34-28 win over the resilient Green Bay Packers. Both teams went back and forth on the scoreboard displaying the same amount of intensity as they did in the playoffs. Some extracurricular activities even took place on the sidelines between left tackle Joe Staley and pass-rusher Clay Matthews for the unnecessary late hit on Colin Kaepernick. A rare crucial error from the referees allowed the 49ers to receive an extra down, instead of sending out the field goal unit on a 4th and 2. Kaepernick finished the day with an astounding 412 passing yards, compared to Aaron Rodgers air attack of 333 yards. It was a given that the Packers would be prepared for the 49ers read-option and Kaepernick’s gazelle-like speed on the scramble. What they wouldn’t be prepared for was Anquan Boldin’s big play-making ability. The 32-year-old veteran had a knack for always being left open on the field during pivotal 3rd down opportunities. Boldin caught 13 passes from his new quarterback, gathering a total of 208 yards in his 49er debut. After his awe-inspiring performance on Sunday, there is no doubt Kaepernick has found his new primary target. Kaepernick said, “They kept letting him get open, and he played like a grown man today.” “He made plays even when he shouldn’t have.” The 2003 second round pick was originally selected to play WR for the Arizona Cardinals. After seven years he was then traded to the Baltimore Ravens in 2010, where he won his first coveted Super Bowl ring three years later, ironically against the 49ers. The 49ers gave up a 6th round draft pick to the Ravens, to acquire one of the best veteran receivers in the league. Must be brotherly love? The off-season acquisition of Boldin couldn’t come at a better time with Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham still recovering from their injuries. Once these two receivers are back up to speed, don’t be startled if the aerial attack resembles a Denver Bronco offense. The Packers did a superb job defending against the read-option, and contained Kaepernick from running all over the field for the most part. The complication was they focused more on the Niners physical running game, and underestimated the 49ers passing capability. Additionally, if Kaepernick’s new chemistry with Boldin continues to “click” the way it did during last night’s performance, expect the 49ers to have another glorious season. Excellent win for the 49ers (1-0), and a valiant effort from the Green Bay Packers (0-1). Coach Jim Harbaugh said in his interview, “He cost us a draft choice and we’re paying him a lot of money, but he’s worth every penny.” I couldn’t agree more.     Jerome Oribello @joribello37

Let me go ahead and eat the crow before the game is over. Wow, I was wrong tonight when I said Kaep would not be able to continue where he left off from last year. Well with Anquan Boldin in San Francisco, Kaepernick is making the trade look amazing. @ESPNNFL: Colin Kaepernick over 400 yards […]

Boldin's memorable 49ers debut leads team to win

(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By JANIE McCAULEY AP Sports Writer Anquan Boldin sprinted off the field for the locker room following a memorable 49ers debut, then insisted afterward that's just how he rolls. He gets paid to catch footballs, and he approaches each game as a job from the moment he steps onto the field to the way he exits the turf a few hours...

Kaepernick and Boldin put on a clinic in win over Packers

First off, I would like to thank the Baltimore Ravens for giving the 49ers, Anquan Boldin. For those that didn’t get to watch the game, Boldin didn’t just have a good game. He had a phenomenol game. Boldin finished the game with 13 receptions for 208 yards and one tochdown. It wasn’t just the receiving yards, he came up big time when the team needed a key first down. Just the...

Boldin leads way in debut with 49ers

And Vernon Davis did his part in a prolific passing game led by Colin Kaepernick in a 34-28 victory over the Packers on Sunday. Packers let Anquan Boldin and Colin Kaepernick have a party

Sunday afternoon saw a match-up between two of the better teams in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers coming out victorious 34-28 over the Green Bay Packers It wasn’t the legs of 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick that caused the demise of the Packers this time around, but rather his arm. Green Bay’s defense had no answer at any point in the game for San Francisco’s newly...

Boldin proves a reliable replacement for Crabtree

In one brilliant afternoon, Anquan Boldin's spectacular debut for San Francisco sure lessened the sting of Michael Crabtree's devastating Achilles' injury. Colin Kaepernick has his top target, and a gutsy Super Bowl champion at that. Add Vernon Davis into the mix, and all those questions about the 49ers' receiving corps were quieted at least for this week. Kaepernick...

Today’s game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers lived up to the hype. The teams were already trading verbal blows earlier this week when talks about how the Packers would game plan for Colin Kaepernick. NFC West: Could it Be The Toughest Division in the NFL?

The teams in the NFC West did not waste any time improving their teams in the offseason. The 49ers traded for Anquan Boldin. The Seahawks traded for Percy Harvin. The Arizona Cardinals signed veteran quarterback Carson Palmer to bolster their offense. The St.Louis Rams improved the most through the draft by trading up to get Tavon Austin and by signing tight-end Jared Cook. Packers Hold 49ers To 90 Rushing Yards, Yield 404 Passing Yards

It was a week one rematch from last years playoffs that saw a very different game with a similar result. During last year's playoff victory Colin Kaepernick set an NFL single game rushing record for a quarterback and the San Francisco 49ers set a post-season franchise record for total offensive yards with 579 against the Green Bay Packers. This year Green Bay gave up another...

San Francisco 49ers: 2013 Week 2 NFL Power Rankings (#2)

The only reason the 49ers aren’t #1 is because they lost the Super Bowl last season. no team has lost the Super Bowl and come back to win it the following season in over 40 years. No reigning Super Bowl loser has even made the Super Bowl the following season since the early 90s Bills. It’s why I didn’t pick the Patriots last season. It’s very physically and mentally tough...

Ravens Will Bring In TE Jake Ballard For A Workout

Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports that the Baltimore Ravens will bring in former Patriots TE Jake Ballard for a workout on Monday. The news comes less than a hour after Anquan Boldin finished Sunday’s win over Green Bay with 13 catches for 208 yards and a touchdown. Baltimore sent Boldin to the 49ers in return for a sixth-round pick, which now looks like a ridiculous deal. It’s...
