According to the Dallas Morning News, Cowboys defensive end Anthony Spencer has been cleared to run after undergoing knee surgery. He’s now “more hopeful” that he’ll be ready for their season-opener against the Giants.
Spencer understands though that he won’t be in game shape when he comes back.
“The only way you really get in game shape is by playing in games,” Spencer said. “I know that will be one of the hard things, but I haven’t really struggled with conditioning through my time of playing in the NFL. I work hard and I get conditioned pretty quickly.”

WHAT'S IN IT?
Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones thinks the team has what it takes to win championships, and it all starts with what he refers to as the "secret sauce."
DeMarco Murray ran angry after being benched for fumbling
In an absolute jaw dropper, Head Coach Jason Garrett benched starting running back DeMarco Murray in the first quarter after he fumbled against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Murray did in fact recover his own fumble, and he even stayed on the field finishing the drive with a 7-yard pass out of the backfield. However, when the Cowboys...
IRVING, Texas Quarterback Tony Romo is "significantly more involved'' in the Cowboys' play-calling and game-planning, owner Jerry Jones says, in part as a result of a consultation Jones had with Hall-of-Fame coach Bill Parcells.
"In visiting with Bill, he thought it was something that we really ought to maybe take advantage of is Tony's ability to see...
Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray is supremely talented, but often injured, and sometimes unable to live up to the potential that jumps out when you see him carry a football.
Murray fumbled early on during the Cowboys preseason game Saturday night, and he was benched for the remainder of the first half.
Murray holds the keys to a lot of the Cowboys success, and is frustrated...
If you can read anything from the preseason (and we all know it is dangerous to think you can), then you attempt to carefully read the one time in the exhibition season where both teams admit they are running out the starters for an elongated amount of time. And when that "dress rehearsal" week is against a team that has been in the playoffs in 2011 and 2012 and is attempting...
Teammates of former Dallas Cowboys safety Cliff Harris said Monday that he deserves more recognition - up to and including a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame - because of his revolutionary play in the secondary.
The scout who helped bring Harris to the NFL, along with teammates from the Cowboys' championship runs in the 1970s, gathered to honor Harris, an Arkansas native...
IRVING, Texas During a Tuesday morning radio interview on 105.3 The Fan, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones compared Tony Romo to New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton.
Payton, also a former college quarterback at Eastern Illinois, coached Romo early in his NFL career. With Romo having more input in the Cowboys' offensive game-planning this year, Jones made the statement while...
The Cowboys have made the decision to move DT Jay Ratliff to PUP, which will keep him from action for 6 weeks. Barring further setbacks, Ratliff will be eligible for week 7 @ Philly (Oct. 20th) Expect to see Nick Hayden to take over alongside Jason Hatcher at the DT position. Ratliff is pretty much done in Dallas. Look for the Cowboys to reload the position in the 2014 draft.
(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By SCHUYLER DIXON AP Sports Writer DeMarco Murray says it was frustrating to get benched after a fumble early in a preseason game against Cincinnati.
The Dallas Cowboys running back didn't pout, though. And he definitely got the message in a 24-18 victory against the Bengals on Saturday.
Murray had 45 rushing yards and a 7...
Dez Bryant continued to add to his impressive preseason statistics Saturday night at AT&T Stadium.
The fourth-year wide receiver caught six passes for 54 yards and a touchdown in the first half of a 24-18 Dallas Cowboys victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. In the last three preseason games Bryant and the first-team offense have been on the field for 10 series. During that time...
Tony Romo has a good shot to get to the Super Bowl this year and his journey down that road begins first thing Tuesday a.m.
Jerry Jones gave Tony Romo a huge new deal, and plenty of offensive responsibility to go along with it this off-season.
Jones loves Romo’s offensive mind, and compared his thinking to that of Saints offensive genius, Sean Payton according to ESPN Dallas.
“It is also just the flair for being able to see it and being creative out there,” Jones said. “In visiting with Bill...
