Free Agent CB Antoine Winfield will visit with the Seahawks We've learned this AM via Profootballtalk.com + Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun Times that DB Antoine Winfield is expected to meet with the Seahawks this week. Former #Vikings CB Antoine Winfield is expected to visit the Seahawks early next week, according to a source.— Sean Jensen (@seankjensen) April 7, 2013 The article goes onto say Winfield has spent a lot of time in the slot in recent seasons, something he’d likely do if he wound up with the Seahawks. With Marcus Trufant more than likely NOT coming back to Seattle in 2013 there is an opening for some competition here. Other possible candidates would of course be Jeremy Lane, and Walter Thurmond. This just makes this Seahawks fan start licking his chops. If the Seahawks do land Winfield, it will make one of the league’s best secondaries even deeper. We'll see what happens and keep you posted. Winfield is 5-9 180lbs, and was drafted 23rd overall in 1999 by the Bills. Last season in Minnesota Winfield played all 16 games and racked up 71 solo tackles, 29 assists, a half sack, 3 INT's, and 12 PD's. More...

Report: Seahawks looked into acquiring Tim Tebow

According to the Seattle Times, the Seahawks looked into acquiring quarterback Tim Tebow from the Jets now that Matt Flynn is gone and they’re looking for a back up behind Russell Wilson. Even though the Seahawks looked into bringing in Tebow, they don’t plan on pursuing a trade with the Jets. The quarterbacks the Seahawks may end up signing are Matt Leinart, Seneca Wallace or...

Leslie Frazier hopeful Antoine Winfield will return to Vikings

Minnesota Vikings coach Leslie Frazier is holding out hope that veteran cornerback Antoine Winfield will return to the team. Winfield was arguably the team’s best defensive back in 2012, but his $7.25 million salary for 2013 was too much for the Vikings to carry. However, Frazier wants Winfield to return and isn’t shy about saying it. "We're all human," Frazier...

The Seattle Seahawks have added depth at wide receiver by signing Brett Swain to a two-year contract following a tryout. The Seahawks announced the signing on their website Monday. The 27-year-old Swain was drafted by Green Bay in 2008, taken in the seventh-round out of San Diego State. He caught six passes with Green Bay in the 2010 season and another two for San Francisco in...

Colts, Vikings likely out of the playoff mix in 2013

Nearly every year there's one or two surprise playoff teams that no one expected to be in contention. At the end of the 2012 season, the Colts and the Vikings were making surprise playoff appearances, but their success was as much a testament to the inconsistent nature of last season's wildcard contenders as it was to those teams' abilities on the field. In 2013,...

Seahawks browsed Tebow, unlikely to acquire

The Seattle Seahawks are not expected to make a move to add Tim Tebow to the roster. That news is hardly a surprise but that any team actually kicked the tires of acquiring the 25-year-old is news. Tebow was rarely used after being acquired by the New York Jets last year. The Jets talked about using Tebow in a wildcat formation but his biggest contributions to the team came on special...

Tim Tebow to Seahawks is not happening

Tim Tebow is not going to the Seattle Seahawks despite rumors indicating that the team has considered him. Seattle is in the market for a backup quarterback after trading Matt Flynn to Oakland last week for two draft picks. Since the offense is running more zone-read plays, the thinking was that they would want a quarterback who can run to backup Russell Wilson. The Seattle Times’...

(Credit: Marcio Jose Sanchez/AP) After seeing the free agency arms race between the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers last month, both teams seem primed to make a serious run at the Super Bowl in 2013. Seattle added the top two free agent defensive ends, Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett, and traded for the...

How Much More Can Russell Wilson Improve?

When the 2012 NFL season kicked off, no one gave Russell Wilson a ton of thought because he was scheduled to be playing behind Matt Flynn. However, Coach Pete Carroll decided early on that Wilson would be the guy to lead the offense. That decision paid off and helped Seattle get into the playoffs. The question is, can Wilson improve, or was he experiencing some beginner’s luck...
