Early Monday morning the Houston Texans and restricted free agent Arian Foster agreed on a new 5-year deal worth $43.5 million dollars with $20.75 of that guaranteed. The first three years of the deal is worth $30 million according the NFL Networks Jason LaCanfora.
Arian Foster’s agent Mike McCartney tweeted this early Monday morning
“Congrats to @ArianFoster for agreeing to a 5 year contract with the @HoustonTexans! Arian has showed tremendous class the last couple years,”
In Foster’s two full seasons with the Texans he has made the Pro Bowl both years and has rushed for 3,097 yards and 33 total touchdowns (29 rushing, 4 receiving). Arguably the Texans best offensive weapon, Foster will be back at Reliant for another full 5 seasons, and helps solidify the Texans future in the backfield.
Foster has played the last three seasons for the league minimum, after being an undfrated free agent out of Tennessee coming into the 2009 season. Foster won the starting job coming into the 2010 season over Steve Slaton and has turned the Texans running game into one of the top offensive units in the NFL. He currently holds the franchise record for career rushing touchdowns, and looks like he is in position to surpass the franchise record for career rushing yards for the Texans during the 2012 season.
Considered one of the top running back in the league for the past two season, looked to be reasonable with his contract demands. Foster, a fan favorite, will be expected to keep performing at the level he has been, but for now the fan base is excited about the Texans organization taking care of one of the most important pieces of the Texans franchise.
