Now that the season is at its halfway point, it is easier to get an accurate reading of how good a team really is.  The Arizona Cardinals however may be one of the few exceptions to that thinking because of their very inconsistent play.  They started out the season hot, winning their first four games on their way to becoming a potential Super Bowl contender because of how well their defense was performing.  Since their 4-0 start however, they have managed to lose game after game and are now on the border to even make the playoffs. While the Cardinals are hard to read as a whole, we can take a more in-depth look at the individual players on the team and see which ones are helping the team the most.  On offense it seems as if the only candidate for the mid-season MVP award is Larry Fitzgerald, which comes as a surprise to no one.  While Fitzgerald is clearly the Cardinals best offensive player, the constant changing between quarterbacks and their lack luster play at times has put a restriction on Fitzgerald’s ability and stats.  Through seven weeks Fitzgerald has only caught the ball 40 times and been able to gain a meager 459 yards, which comes to an average of 11.5 yards per catch, the lowest of his career.  So it seems that with the dismal play of the quarterbacks in trying to target Fitzgerald the team’s MVP will come from the defensive side.… Read more
