The Arizona Cardinals’ rookies visited Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Arizona on Wednesday and used their music talents to lift up the spirits of a young patient named Bethany. The Cardinals’ rookies (specifically Padric Scott, Jamaal Johnson-Webb, Earl Watford, Dan Giordano and Jonathan Cooper) joined Bethany, who was recovering from having her appendix removed, for a rendition of a Taylor Swift song and the result was wonderful. The Cardinals organization sent 25 players overall to the hospital and used it as a team building opportunity as well. According to the Cardinals: It was also one of the first times they saw each other in a non-football capacity, and with the severity of the illnesses awaiting them at the hospital, many players saw a side of their teammates they won’t see often. “We are able to see each other outside of being competitive and being those tough guys,” defensive back Tyrann Mathieu said. “We kinda see people break down and kinda really see people show their h...

Will Carson Palmer and the Cardinals stay out of the cellar of the NFC West in 2013?

The Arizona Cardinals saw from their past season’s 5-11 record that they needed to re-tool if they wanted to compete in the now highly competitive NFC West.  This division, which consists of Super Bowl runner up San Francisco 49ers, NFC Conference Semi-finalist Seattle Seahawks and an up and coming St. Louis Rams are all improving and making noise, which will keep the Cardinals...

Arizona Cardinals DT Padric Scott paving the way for all HBCU football players

Padric Scott is probably one of the most humble people I have ever spoke with. The kid understands what this opportunity means, and will do anything to make it work.  His dream was always playing in the NFL, and he has continued to strive in the right direction.  He is finally on an NFL team but he understands what it takes to beat the odds.  When Padric Scott came out of high...

Fitz: Swope missed OTA time with concussion issues

When the Cardinals selected receiver Ryan Swope in the sixth round (174th) overall of Aprils NFL Draft, he insisted that the concussions he suffered at Texas A&M were not an issue and never really were. Im 100 percent right now, he said in a conference call with local media members. Ive had just a few head injuries that have been minor. Ive never missed a college game. I feel...

Tyrann Mathieu flirts with an underage girl on Twitter

According to Black Sports Online, Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu sent a direct message to a 17 year-old girl on Twitter asking her when she turns 18.   Mathieu didn’t do anything legally wrong here, but I’m sure his girlfriend won’t be happy to find out about this news.  He’s certainly not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but is one heck of a football player. This is...

Grading the Draft: Arizona Cardinals

Held back by pathetic quarterback play last season, the Cardinals decided to trade for Carson Palmer rather than take a chance on any of this year’s QB prospects in the first two rounds. For a team with plenty of holes on both sides of the ball and a star receiver going to waste this was probably a wise move, especially after Arizona used their first pick to provide some protection...

Rest Easy, Darnell Dockett Has Registered His Hand Grenade

By the way guns are legal in the state of Arizona. I have not broke the law! I have paper wirk for every gun including my hand grenade! — DARNELL DOCKETT (@ddockett) May 30, 2013 Darnell Dockett is one of the few necessary NFL player follows on Twitter. When he plays around, he’s actually funny. He hits on the girlfriends of other athletes on social media and invites them to...

Cardinals provide karaoke backup for girl in hospital

The Arizona Cardinals are on a break from organized team activities this week, allowing players a chance to get out on the golf course or spend some time with their families or, say, provide backup to a young hospital patient singing karaoke. Wait, what? On Wednesday, a group of the Cardinals rookies made a planned visit to Phoenix Children's Hospital to spend time with children...

Darnell Dockett, Calais Campbell Like Arizona Cardinals New Defensive Approach

Defensive ends live to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Arizona Cardinals defensive ends Darnell Dockett and Calais Campbell are no exception. Those two veteran players will get an opportunity to dial up the heat on enemy signal-callers this coming season under new defensive coordinator Todd Bowles. Arizona will still use the 3-4 as their base defense, as they have during...

Arizona Cardinals sing backup at area children’s hospital

Rookies for the Arizona Cardinals recently visited a local children’s hospital in Phoenix, and managed to bring a smile to many faces while there. None wider than the one they gave to a young Bethany Burngard. The 7-year-old is recovering from an appendectomy, and she grabbed a microphone and then busted out some Taylor Swift while the players acted as her backup singers for the...
