The Patriots added another receiver with good speed who can play multiple positions at a bargain of a price. The catch? He's also been fairly injury prone. Austin Collie joins Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman as versatile Patriots receivers with good hands who have had trouble staying on the football field. The good news is that, like with Edelman, the Patriots have protected themselves fairly well should Collie wind up injured again (Austin has a history of concussions that is fairly alarming for their frequency). Here's the breakdown per Mike Reiss of ESPN: Austin Collie's contract: 1 year, minimum base salary $715k, with split salary if he lands on reserve list. Includes injury waiver. No bonus. In all, it is what was probably expected when the news came out yesterday that the Patriots had signed Austin. A one year deal makes sense as the Patriots had previously worked out Collie and passed on signing him, which signals that this signing now is c...

Austin Collie signs with Patriots

The Patriots receiving corps has come under a lot of fire in the beginning of the season. Certainly, alot of that has subsided over the last two weeks when it finally seemed like the rookies were coming around. That hasn't stopped the Pats from signing a veteran to add to the young group. The Patriots have signed veteran WR Austin Collie, according to a league source. —...

Danny Amendola Looking Forward to Sunday

As he has over the past couple of weeks, Danny Amendola was seen practicing on the field for the Patriots on a Friday before a game. According to Mike Reiss, Amendola has looked much improved in his running from the limp he displayed soon after completely tearing his adductor muscles in his groin. When asked by reporters about how he was feeling, Danny had this to say, per...

Patriots Release TE Zach Sudfeld

A good sign that a team is about to release you is when you barely play any snaps. That was the case for Patriots TE Zach Sudfeld. CBS Sports has reported that the Pats have decided to part ways with the player that was supposedly going to fill the void of Aaron Hernandez. That didn’t exactly go according to plan, but all hope for Sudfeld isn’t lost. If no one claims him from...

Patriots Sign Kanorris Davis and Ja'Gared Davis From Practice Squad

The Patriots filled their two vacant roster spots to bring the team back to the maximum allowed 53 man roster. While many thought that the Pats would promote a defensive tackle to help share the load left by Vince Wilfork, the Pats instead promoted Kanorris Davis (again) and brought up Ja'Gared Davis, a linebacker, as well. The news comes courtesy of Mike Reiss of ESPN...

Amendola could return on Sunday

Initial diagnosis of WR Danny Amendola's injury had the Patriots holding their breaths and fans grunting and mumbling 'I knew it'. The injury in Week 1 has kept Tom Brady's new go-to-guy on the sideline ever since, but with new positive vibes regarding the injury and recovery, signs are pointing to Amendola returning to play for this week's game against the...

Amendola Viewed as Likely, Gronk as Unlikely for Sunday

The injury news for the Patriots have been a decidedly mixed bag this week. The practice injury report is long and filled with notable names. The signing of Austin Collie is probably a sign that Aaron Dobson may not be 100% (Kenbrell Thompkins has already flat out said that he's fine). Stevan Ridley has already been ruled out for Sunday. But, as has become tradition this, Pats...

Aaron Wilson reports that the New York Jets have claimed TE Zach Sudfeld off of waivers from the New England Patriots. Sudfeld, 24, signed on with New England as a rookie free agent out of Nevada. NFL Week Five: Patriots @ Bengals

Aqib Talib celebrates his INT last week as the cornerback continues his Pro Bowl campaign in 2013 Losing defensive anchor Vince Wilfork for the rest of the season is a huge blow, there are no qualms about it. Luckily for the Patriots, Brady has officially found his stride with the receiving corps and the defense has managed to cause a turnover in 34 straight games. New England (4...
