TEAMS: New York Jets
Jets running back Mike Goodson was back on the field with his teammates Wednesday after serving his four-game suspension. It was the first practice Goodson has participated in this season and he said he is ready to play Monday night in Atlanta. “It just felt good to get out there and run you know what I mean? I felt good” Goodson said. “I’m in shape. I was pretty nervous about that. It’s pretty hard to simulate an NFL practice but I felt good out there. I wasn’t gassed. I’m pretty good on my playbook. I knew my plays.” Goodson’s suspension came following his arrest in May on drug and gun charges that Goodson still faces. He missed all of training camp for “personal reasons” and then was suspended by the NFL when he returned to the team. He has been able to work out at the team’s training center and attend meetings but he was unable to practice before Wednesday. Goodson who was signed by the Jets in March said he can’t wait for Monday. “It means everything” Goodson said. “I

Geno Smith doing impressions of Mark Sanchez

Is it me or did Geno Smith do a great impression of Mark Sanchez? The New York Jets most recent game was a reminder of what happens when the defense can’t keep up their end of the bargain. At 2-1 this was a game to show if the Jets were for real or just lucky? Guess lady luck wasn’t a fan of the New York Jets. THE GOOD There is a silver lining for everything and while watching...

New York Jets Defensive Line Grade Sheet: Week 4

Through four weeks of the 2013 NFL season, it would appear that my job –grading the defensive line following each game– is probably the easiest of anyone here at TOJ. In layman’s terms….they’re pretty damn good. And I expect we’ll see a lot of positives from them each and every week. And while I’m ecstatic to get a chance to analyze the dominant performances from...

Jets will be without Santonio Holmes for a couple of weeks

New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes will miss multiple games because his hamstring injury is worse than initially thought, according to a league source. The Jets haven’t revealed a prognosis, but the fear is that he could miss up to a month.Stephen Hill (concussion) also is expected to sit out next Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons, meaning the […]

Zac Sudfeld was claimed by the New York Jets today via waivers

Today, Zac Sudfeld was claimed by the New York Jets. Sudfeld was released by the Patriots on Thursday after the signing of receiver Austin Collie. The undrafted free agent out of Nevada was impressive in the preseason for the Patriots, showcasing top athletic ability on a 6’7, 260-pound frame and appearing to be a long-term […]

Tebow worth signing for his ‘aura,’ says Jets receiver

New Jets wide receiver David Nelson said he has not spoken to his college teammate Tim Tebow about life with the Jets since signing with the team Tuesday. Nelson was scheduled to work out with Tebow next weekend. He said Tebow who is currently a free agent called him a few weeks ago and asked him if he wanted to work out. Nelson played with Tebow at the University of Florida and...

Rex: No color codes for Smith

Red light. Green light. Forget it. A few hours after saying the New York Jets are considering using a wristband with plays designated by color -- red, yellow and green -- to help struggling Geno Smith, Rex Ryan decided against it. ''To be honest with you, I don't plan on doing that now,'' Ryan told ESPN NY 98.7 on Wednesday. The Jets, trying to help cut down...

Rex Ryan Scratches Traffic Light Color Code for Geno Smith

Poor Geno Smith. Apparently being drafted by the Jets and thrown to the wolves as a rookie aren’t bad enough. Now he has to deal with reports that he’s having so much trouble grasping a system that even Mark Sanchez understood that head coach Rex Ryan was mulling using a color code system. According to the initial reports yesterday, Ryan was thinking of implementing something...

Dee Milliner plans to work through troubles, just as he did at Alabama

A quarter of the way into the season first-round draft pick Dee Milliner is probably a little too familiar with watching the Jets from the sidelines or on television. Through the first four games Milliner has played in just over 43% of the Jets’ defensive snaps due to a benching by Rex Ryan and a hamstring injury that kept him out for Week 4. This wasn’t Gang Green’s master...

Santonio Holmes: ”I Can’t Throw The Ball To Myself And Catch It”

You want to know what’s better than a diva wide receiver explaining why he didn’t have any catches? An injured wide receiver explaining why he only had one catch. Two weeks after Hakeem Nicks told the media he can’t throw the ball to himself, following a blowout loss to the Panthers, injured Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes just did the same thing. Holmes was asked about...

Putting Walls Up

Florham Park - There's a good chance Darrelle Revis is missing his days on the Jets right now as part of the struggling/embarrassing Buccaneers...and the Jets are feeling his absence, especially with Dee Milliner out with a hamstring injury. Now, Darrin Walls, who calls himself the best-dressed Jet, is filling in opposite Antonio Cromartie. The 25-year-old cornerback didn'...

Zach Sudfeld claimed by the New York Jets

Well, isn't that funny. The Patriots released struggling rookie tight end Zach Sudfeld yesterday, after the tight end did very little except fumble, cause interceptions, and drop onside kicks. Still, the young player showed plenty of potential in training camp and the Patriots were likely hoping that he would land on their practice squad. Not if the New York Jets have anything...
