Bears Do Dallas Monday Night

By SBRForum.com

It hasn't exactly been pretty but the Chicago Bears are 2-1. Now they'll go up against another team that can look discombobulated on occasion, the 2-1 Dallas Cowboys, for this week's version of Monday Night Football (8:30 pm ET, ESPN) down in Arlington.

Just Happy to Be Here (at 2-1)

Chicago opened this season with a 41-21 win over Indianapolis, then went to Green Bay and took one on the chin, falling 23-10 and looking bad doing it.

Then Sunday the Bears slowly squeezed a 23-6 victory out of the Rams. As seven-point favorites Chicago didn't put that game away until Major Wright returned a Sam Bradford interception with nine minutes to go to give the Bears a 20-6 lead.

Chicago is 2-1 ATS this year, covering seven points Sunday for   those who included them among their NFL picks, and as 10-point favorites vs. the Colts, but losing as five-point dogs at Green Bay.

However, the Bears' two wins have come against two teams that combined to go 4-28 last year.

Chicago is hoping to get good news this week if RB Matt Forte is deemed able to return to action. Forte sprained an ankle in Week 1 and has missed the last game and a half. He's still listed as questionable for Monday night, but might return to practice later this week.

Meanwhile, Down in Big D

The Cowboys opened their season with an impressive 24-17 victory on the road at the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants. But then, perhaps victims of the schedule maker, Dallas had to play another road game on the opposite side of the country, flying to Seattle and getting beat 27-7.

But Sunday Dallas climbed back above .500, holding Tampa to 166 total yards of offense on its way to a 16-10 victory.

However, the Cowboys are now 1-2 ATS, losing outright as three-point chalk at Seattle, then failing to cover nine points vs. the Bucs, settling for two very short field goals in the fourth quarter instead of scoring touchdowns.

What's Really Important: The Lines

Monday's game has already seen some line movement favorable to those who might like the Bears and/or the 'over.' Many NFL betting outlets opened Chicago at +3, then quickly bumped the Bears to +4. And the total started off as high as 45 at some shops, but was quickly bet down to as low as 42 at some places.

Chicago can also be gotten at upwards of +185 to win Monday's game outright.

These two teams are a combined 1-5 on the 'over/unders' this season.

The Last Time We Met

These teams last met two seasons ago, also in Dallas, with the Bears coming away with a 27-20 victory. That game played 'over' its total of 41 as the teams combined to run the ball just 39 times and throw it 80 times.
