Bears safety Chris Conte was fined $21,000 for contact to the head of a defenseless receiver during Sunday's 23-22 win over the Panthers.
Although the replay showed Conte's action was by no means intentional, the official flagged him for a personal foul for striking Panthers receiver Brandon LaFell.
Conte said he's in the process of appealing the fine. After the game, he expressed his displeasure with the call.
"It wasn't a penalty, but I guess they called it a penalty,'' Conte said. I didn't do anything. He's diving into me. I don't know what you want me to do.'' Source: Chicago Tribune Attached Thumbnails

QUICK SPIN: LaFell has a Concussion…
Brandon LaFell took a big hit against the Steelers and, according to Panther's head coach Ron Rivera, passed a concussion test on the sideline. If indeed he did pass the sideline testing then it was insufficient because he has been sidelined now, probably for Week 9 at least, with a concussion. If testing wasn't administered this could become a real issue for the Panthers.

With Williams being 29 years-old, I wouldn’t bother trading for him with all...

Second-ary to none, DBs doing their part for Bears
(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By ANDREW SELIGMAN AP Sports Writer The Chicago Bears had some question marks in their secondary when the season started. It turns out they had some answers, too.

Today he made a comment and I don’t know if I was suppose to take it as a shot at Cam Newton or it just came out bad. To me that sounds...
