NFL Injury Report:
Chicago Bears quarterback Jay
Cutler was unable to practice once again yesterday, casting doubt on his status
for Monday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, while wide receiver
Alshon Jeffery was limited at practice and could return from a hand injury.
Cutler continues to recover from
a concussion he sustained last weekend against the Houston Texans after being
hit high by linebacker Tim Dobbins. The linebacker was flagged for the hit and
the NFL ultimately fined him $30,000.
While coach Lovie Smith has said
that Cutler could start Monday night against the 49ers without practicing this
week, his status will remain doubtful as long as he’s restricted to the
While Cutler hasn’t been able to
participate in practice this week, Jeffery was once again limited on Thursday.
He’s recovering from a hand injury, and there is still potential that he could
suit up against San Francisco.
Beyond Cutler, defensive linemen
Shea McClellin (concussion) and Matt Toeaina (calf) also didn’t practice Thursday.
Jeffery was limited, and defensive lineman Henry Melton (back) was a full

The Chicago Bears announced today that Jay Cutler will not play MondayNight against the San Francisco 49ers.
LM: #Bears have announced that QB Jason Campbell will start Monday night's game at San Francisco.

Jason Campbell will get the start instead. Campbell is an experienced quarterback with plenty of starts in his career...
Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler's status for this week
remains in question because of a concussion.
Who knew what this Monday night matchup would be prior to week one. The possibilities exploded off the schedule until quarterback concussions and injuries occurred quicker than a Tony Romo interception. With Jake Cutler down and Alex Smith hoping for game-time medical approval, this game has definitely lost its luster. However, it remains larger than the injury reports. Six weeks...
Jason Campbell will start for the Bears in Monday's game at San Francisco, NFL Network reported Friday. Campbell, who signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal to back up Jay Cutler, has 70 career starts. Teammates said Thursday the offense wouldn't change much if Cutler was forced to miss his first game this season with a concussion. That's a far cry from the 2011...
The Chicago Bears have announced that backup quarterback Jason Campbell will start on Sunday after starter Jay Cutler suffered a concussion last week against the Houston Texans. This is a tough loss as the Bears will face the NFC West leading San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Replay clearly showed Houston linebacker Tim Dobbins made helmet-to-helmet [...]
Houston Texans linebacker Tim Dobbins will be fined a $30,000 fine for his hit on Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler on Sunday night, ESPN reported. Cutler suffered a concussion after the helmet-to-helmet hit and didn't return after halftime. Dobbins was penalized for unnecessary roughness. On the play, Cutler was scrambling and was called for an illegal forward pass when...
The Chicago Bears believe they can get by without Jay Cutler. That theory might be tested this week, and the team is getting Jason Campbell ready for Monday night's game against the 49ers.
The Chicago Bears will have to rely on Jason Campbell if they are to defeat the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night. Jay Culter has been ruled out due to the lingering effects of a concussion.
Cutler was knocked out of the Bears’ Nov. 11 game against Houston following a helmet-to-helmet hit from Texans linebacker Tim Dobbins. Dobbins has since been fined $30,000 by the league for...
The Chicago Bears skipped practice Wednesday afternoon, but there was no shortage of information flowing out of Halas Hall. The most pressing matter is the health of Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, who suffered a concussion late in the first half Sunday night against Houston. Bears head coach Lovie Smith stated that Cutler is feeling better, he wouldn’t make a guess [...]
Chicago Bears (7-2) at San Francisco 49ers (7-2)
I can’t make a final pick on this one because there are too many unknowns with injuries and with the line in general (it’s not yet posted). However, I can do a reasonable preview based on what we do know. Here’s what we know. We know Jay Cutler has been ruled out and will not play for the Bears. Instead, Jason Campbell will start...
Several big-name NFL quarterbacks got injured last weekend, creating difficult spots for their teams, and changes in the point spreads. Unsurprisingly, the injury to Ben Roethlisberger has the most significant effect on the spread.
Per Pregame.com, here’s how much each starting quarterback’s injury is worth to his team’s point spread:
Big Ben: 4 points
Jay Cutler: 2 points...
Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher still says he would lie to cover up a concussion.
With quarterback Jay Cutler recovering from a concussion, the Bears' defensive star wasn't backing off comments he made to HBO earlier this year.
He responded ''yeah'' when asked if he would try to cover up such an injury. He said he's not sure ''how you...
The San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears are two of the top teams in the NFC, but that's with their respective starting quarterbacks.
Concussions may make both unavailable come Monday night.
With Alex Smith and Jay Cutler potentially adding to the national viewing audience, it could be up to Colin Kaepernick and Jason Campbell to solve two of the toughest defenses in the league...
