If there is one piece of advice for new Chicago Bears coach Marc Trestman: ‘make sure you have a good backup quarterback.’ Jay Cutler hasn’t been the sturdiest and if they still have offensive line problems as in the past, the backup will get a chance to play in 2013. The Bears have to make a decision on backup Jason Campbell who is set to hit free agency on March 12th. The Bears like Campbell and want to keep him, but if he gets to free agency, it’s a good possibility he could get an offer he can’t refuse. Good backup quarterbacks are like gold in the NFL, the price goes up and down, but they are always needed. According to Dam Pompei of the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago brass is wrestling with what they need to do. Pompei writes: ‘The market for backup quarterbacks is not expected to be very robust, and the Bears likely will have too many other demands on their budget to invest too heavily in a player who is not expected to play a lot.
