Pro Sports Daily:
The hit Chicago Bears rookie linebacker Jon Bostic put on a San Diego wide receiver fired up an entire sideline last Thursday night at Soldier Field.
The most lasting effect will be felt by Bostic though. Teammate Lance Briggs announced via his Twitter account Wednesday morning that the NFL fined Bostic $21000 for the hit on Chargers wide receiver Mike Willie. A source confirmed Briggs’ announcement.
The big shot dislodged the ball from Willie.
"Shaking my head moment. Nfl fines jon bostic 21k for his clean hit against the chargers" Briggs wrote on Twitter.
The Bears were energized by Bostic’s hit during the game and still buzzing about it afterward.
"Kind of looked Lance Briggs-esque" defensive end Corey Wootton said. "Everyone was saying 'That's mini Lance over there.' It was a heck of a hit by him. He has been having a great preseason. He’s been great so far."
Bostic was fined for a hit against a defenseless receiver for lowering hi...

J'Marcus Webb was fully prepared to move from starting left tackle for the Chicago Bears to right tackle this season. He should have been as he had a rough 2012 season on the left side and the Bears signed Jermond Bushrod for that spot. Webb probably didn't expect to be demoted to working with the second team before the second game of the preseason, and he certainly did...
Bears kick returner Devin Hester might be the greatest return man in NFL history, but does he deserve a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame? He believes so.
If the NFL is not careful it is going to take the fun out of the NFL. What did the league do this time you ask? It fined Chicago Bears rookie linebacker Jonathan Bostic $21,000 for this hit on Chargers wide receiver Mike Willie during a recent preseason contest.
This is just crazy. He didn't lead with the helmet at all, in fact he hits him with his...
Chicago Bears rookie linebacker Jon Bostic made a memorable hit on Chargers wide receiver Mike Willie last Thursday. The crushing hit jarred the ball loose for an imcompletion and quickly became a preseason highlight for the young rookie.
Give Chicago Bears new head coach Marc Trestman credit for understanding Bears history. He reached out to former Bears Super-Bowl winning coach Mike Ditka after accepting the job in January, and Tuesday Da Coach made a rare visit to see the renovated Halas Hall and speak with the current team. Coach Ditka … when I got the job … I [...]
Russell Wilson was a guest on Fox Sports 1′s Fox Football Daily on Wednesday. Skip ahead to the 1:23 mark when analyst, and former Chicago Bears linebacker, Brian Urlacher tells Russell Wilson, “Hey Russell I’m not sure if you know this or not, but you ended my career basically.” Obviously this was said in jest, but it was still impressive to see a legendary player like...
Devin Hester may not be much of a receiver, but he thinks highly of himself as a return man, and knows his place in history.
Hester has returned 12 punts, five kickoffs and a missed field goal for touchdowns over the course of his career, and thinks that he’s close to being a Hall of Famer, right now.
“I have one foot in right now,” Hester said, via Mike Mulligan of the Chicago...
The No Fun League strikes again. Chicago Bears LB Jon Bostic was fined $21,000 for his hit on Mike Willie. As you can see in the picture above, he hit him with his shoulder. This is pretty crazy considering that 21k is almost an entire game check for the rookie.
NFL.com actually describes the hit as “hard-hitting” and “spectacular” but now it’s worth $21k. Was this a...
Unless one is an avid football fan, most people would not know the importance of protecting the blind side of a quarterback. As a matter of fact, the story of RT Michael Oher of the Baltimore Ravens in the semi-biographical movie “The Blind Side”, gave some indication of what the position entails. A player is either good at it or absolutely awful. It is imperative that the...
For the third straight year, Bears linebacker Patrick Trahan is fighting for a spot on Chicago’s final 53-man roster, only this time he has experience on his side.
News, notes and quotes from Halas Hall, including the return of Mike Ditka to the Bears’ practice facility, a full injury update, Jordan Mills’ thoughts on his second straight start and more.
In the latest edition of Bear Report radio we discuss the impact of the rookies on offense and defense in the Chargers game. J'Marcus Webb's restructured contract and what it means for his chances to remain on the roster this season and much more.
The NFL continues to make crazy decisions that make absolutely no sense. A week after calling Jon Bostic’s hit on San Diego wide receiver Mike Willie “spectacular” they decided to fine him $21,000. They’re reasoning was he lowered his head into the body of a defenseless player. The problem I have with the fine is that Willie ran about a yard and a half to two yards before...
