GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Earlier this week, Green Bay Packers tight end Ryan Taylor said that the low blow from Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict 'has no place in football.' On Friday, the NFL agreed with Taylor, fining Burfict 10,000 for his below-the-belt cheap shot in the third quarter of Week 3's game between the two teams.
Taylor was flagged for a personal foul on the play when he reacted by shoving Burfict to the ground. The officials on the field didn't see what Burfict initially did to draw that response from Taylor, but the NFL office saw it.
"I don't blame the ref at all for throwing the flag," Taylor said Monday. "I think what was done to me was a little bit harder to see and the retaliation was obviously something that can't happen. Usually the second guy gets caught, and that's what happened."
