Cincinnati Bengals middle linebacker Rey Maualuga and left end Carlos Dunlap sustained right knee sprains in the opening minutes of the preseason Friday night at home against the New York Jets. Maualuga said he will only miss a couple of days of practice. Dunlap would not comment on his injury and there is no time frame for his return. A knee sprain typically takes a couple of weeks to heal, depending on the severity of the injury. Left guard Travelle Wharton, who was hurt on the Bengals third offensive play of the game, may be out for the season with a right knee injury. He was seen on crutches at halftime of the Bengals' 17-6 victory over the Jets. Safety Taylor Mays left the game with a concussion, but Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said he did not know how long he would be out. All four players are projected starters.
