Last year Cedric Benson was so irritated with Cincinnati's offense that the running back declared that if offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski returns, he's gone. When Bratkowski was fired, Benson praised the move saying that "there is a time for change and I think now is a pretty good time." The Bengals signed offensive coordinator Jay Gruden and not five games into the regular season, Benson was frustrated again with the lack of carries. The truth is that Cedric Benson is the type of player that will deflect blame on everyone else when he has a bad year. Last year's lack of production was due to the offensive system the Bengals used and this year was a complete disregard to the rushing offense, according to the running back. "We kind of just went away from it," Benson said. "There wasn't a big emphasis on it throughout the week in preparation going into games. It just kind of became not important."

Why Trent Richardson Could Fall to the Bengals
I was all set to write about something else tonight, making a fearless prediction about the Bengals first pick that is still three months away. Then, I noticed something. Most of the teams picking ahead of the Bengals have franchise running backs or more glaring needs. So even though Richardson is ranked as a top [...]
The Cincinnati Bengals struck gold early in last year’s NFL Draft
The Cincinnati Bengals hit paydirt with their first two picks of last April’s NFL Draft. Injuries limited some other rookies who could help them out in the very near future. Here is a look at what the Bengals’ rookie class did in 2011:
23-year old WR A.J. Green was picked in the first round by the Bengals. He played in 15 games for the Bengals last year and he caught...
Offseason injury outlook good; Shipley progressing well
At the end of last season the Bengals had 19 players on one injury list or another. That total is just eight heading into this offseason.
“I think we are about as healthy a group as we’ve been going into the offseason that I can remember,” said head coach Marvin Lewis Monday afternoon after finishing up exit interviews with players. “We’ll have a few things...
Jay Gruden Staying with the Bengals
According to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden has decided to not interview for any head coaching vacancies.
One of the reasons Gruden decided to stay with the Bengals is because of the loyalty he feels towards them since they gave him his first job as an NFL offensive coordinator.
With Gruden staying in Cincy, it will help...
The Future Is Bright: Cincinnati Bengals Are Ahead Of The Curve
There was little in the way of hope for the Bengals coming into the season. After looking lost in the preseason, with the rookie tandem of Andy Dalton and AJ Green having little time to familiarize themselves with the pro offense during the abbreviated training camp, many expected the Bungles to continue their reign near the bottom of the standings.
But the rookies were...

Position Review: Quarterback
In order for us to develop informed opinions about who the Bengals ought to pursue in free agency in March and in the draft in April, we need to look through each position and evaluate its performance in 2011. Since the Bengals have the cash and the good foundation that ought to allow them to [...]
Gruden staying for 2012
Even though he was thought to be in the running for openings in Jacksonville and St. Louis, Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden is staying with the team for the 2012 season. The Rams had called asking for permission to speak to Gruden, but he is turning down all requests.
“I’m happy here. I like working for Marvin (Lewis) and with the team,” Gruden said on...
Texans gain upper hand on Bengals with game changing play by J.J. Watt
The second quarter opened with Bengals QB Andy Dalton hitting A.J. Green over the middle for 21 yards. I was thinking at the time that it was going to be a long day unless the Texans were...
