Fox Sports Ohio:
Wide receiver A.J. Green and left tackle Andrew Whitworth will not be traveling with the Bengals when they leave Sunday afternoon for Atlanta. The Bengals and Falcons will practice together Monday and Tuesday in preparation for their preseason opener Thursday night at the Georgia Dome.
Green and Whitworth are rehabbing knee injuries; Green hyperextended his left knee on the first day of training camp while attempting to catch a pass from quarterback Andy Dalton. Whitworth had offseason surgery and has been on a rest and rehab routine after practicing the first couple days of camp. The two offensive stars will remain in Cincinnati and work with Bengals trainers and medical staff.
Also not traveling to Atlanta will be defensive tackle Larry Black (ankle), offensive tackle Reid Fragel (unknown), wide receiver Tyrone Goard (concussion), wide receiver Andrew Hawkins (ankle), fullback Chris Pressley (knee), tight end Alex Smith (knee) and defensive tackle Brandon Thompson (knee).
"A.J. is going to stay here," said head coach Marvin Lewis. "He's been running in the pool, now we want to keep that. He'll start his on-field stuff this week and be able to do a combination of both things. We just don't have the facility to do it there. They've got their own (injured) guys."
