Bill Belichick addressed the media before the first day of mandatory mini camp. In his usual fashion, he glossed over the fluff and brushed aside any distractions. When asked about the recent release of Chad Ochocinco, he stated:

"Well, I don't know. The bottom line is that's in the past; we're focused on today and trying to go out there and think about when we step on the field. I haven't thought of that too much."

Belichick reported that Brian Waters was the only player not in attendance, spurring reporters to dig deeper, and Belichick to retort:

"I don't have anything to add."

Belichick was asked what results he likes to see from the off-season program:

"Player's physical improvement, overall mental grasp of what we're doing, what we can see on the field - which is non-contact - but reactions and technique and things like that."

Belichick is a media master who knows how to make even the most experienced reporter squirm. He threw out how Jermaine Cunningham is having a great off-season, just a nugget of what have been going on behind the wall of Gillette, and just the way he likes it.
