For the last five seasons, the Bills have ventured north of the border for a regular season contest in Toronto's Roger Centre. While it's been good for business -- ticket prices are higher than in Buffalo -- it's provided little to no advantage for the "home" team.

Some players, like veteran center Eric Wood, have grown utterly tired of the tradition.

“I think the Toronto series has turned into pretty much a joke,” center Eric Wood said, via the Toronto Star. “It’s a bad atmosphere for football. I mean, nobody wants to play there. I guess for opposing teams it beats the hell out of going in somebody else’s stadium and dealing with a bunch of crowd noise.”

Last Sunday, the latest installment of the series ended with a familiar outcome. The Seahawks came to town and thrashed the Bills, 50-17. Buffalo is now 1-4 all-time in Toronto.

Continuing in his harsh criticism, Wood blasted the fans' support -- or lack thereof -- during the games.

“I mean, it’s a crucial third down for them in the first quarter, and they’re running just regular snap count, where I don’t care if we have a half-filled Ralph Wilson Stadium, they don't do that,” Wood said. “You're making a team from out west travel, and then you give them the comfort of a dome, and you don't make them play in our stadium.

“We have no home-field advantage. We travel, too. I don't think it's turned out they way we wanted, and I hope we don’t renew it. That sucked.”

It's easy to justify Wood's viewpoint. Of the 40,770 in attendance, a mostly-sleepy crowd was cheering for the Seahawks, summoning a "12th Man" feel. If you happened to watch the game, the lack of energy was palpable. What few Bills fans there were began to exit as soon as it became a blowout.

Unfortunately for Wood, he's not going to get his wish. A new deal, which would extend the series for several more years, is expected to be announced soon. And considering commissioner Roger Goodell's interest in expanding internationally, the Bills could soon call Canada home -- permanently.
