MVN Bills:
This Monday night the Patriots could perform one of the biggest "dominations" in NFL history. The New England Patriots look to open their season by defeating the Buffalo Bills for a record twelve consecutive times.
The Patriots will display some of their new additions such as pro bowl running back Fred Taylor as well as lightning fast Joey Galloway. I'm expecting big games from both of these guys, I'm hoping Galloway and Taylor are sipping from the fountain of youth pregame and run circles around the Bills defense.
On Monday night the Patriots will be without pro bowl defensive end Richard Seymour, and will be showing a completely rehauled defense. You won't see Tedy Bruschi, Richard Seymour, Rodney Harrison, or Mike Vrabel on Monday night. Instead you'll see young Jerod Mayo, Patrick Chung, Leigh Bodden, Shawn Springs, and big Vince Wilfork. It seems like a solid mix of good defensive players but I can't help but be nervous about all the changes. Belichick needed to address the defensive side of the ball after last year and I think he has the right idea.
What to expect on Monday Night Football?
Get ya popcorn ready! Terrell Owens is coming back to Foxborough, where he has only three receptions form 61 yards in his career. He's also never beaten the Patriots at 0-2 (not including his Superbowl loss). He's already gained the attention of Rodney Harrison who tore into T.O. on WEEI sports talk radio.
"I'm pumped about T.O. opening up his big mouth about the Patriots... I can actually put a bounty on T.O. if I wanted and not get in any trouble."
"He's a clown...He's all about the circus show and the cameras. But you better believe he'll have Shawn Springs in his grill and Brandon Meriweather putting his helmet down his throat. So, I'm excited about seeing that on Monday."
"He's so miserable ... he seeks so much attention, Something happened a long, long ago, before we even knew T.O., that just made him like this. His clown-act antics and his tactics just take away ... Year after year, the story we should be talking about is his play making ability, the big plays and his potential Hall of Fame career."
Harrison should keep his mouth shut. I'm sure Belichick wishes Harrison wouldn't have commented at all on T.O. Remember we're the team that gets fired up on our opponents comments, we don't need to be giving Terrell any extra motivation. I know he's not the star receiver he once was but he is still strong and a good target for Trent Edwards. With practically a whole new offensive line, I'm thinking the Bills might have their hands full against the brand new Patriots Defense. Either way it might not be a bad idea for Rodney to keep his mouth shut or put on some pads.
Will Brady and the Patriots offense blow out the Bills ? Or will the Bills avoid making history and upset the heavy favorites on national television? Only time will tell. One thing is for certain... I can't wait for Monday Night Football.
My prediction:
With the throw back uniforms the Patriots will play with the same swagger they had in 2007. I look for the Patriots to win this game 24-14.
