The new regime in Buffalo isn’t exactly enamored with carrying high price tags for veteran players on a sub par team.
According to Tim Graham of Buffalo news, the Bills waved goodbye to two veterans today in linebacker Nick Barnett and team captain, safety George Wilson.
Barnett was set to make $3.5 million in 2013. He totaled 242 tackles, 5 sacks, 7 interceptions over two years.
Barnett released this statement:
“I was told I’ll be released today by the Buffalo Bills. Thanks to all the great fans and friends I have met in Western New York,” Barnett wrote. “It was truly a pleasure being apart of that organization and culture.
Very unfortunate we didn’t get the Bills to the playoffs but I know you guys will have many successful years ahead of you.”
The 31-year-old Wilson was a team captain, but his release will save the Bills $2.9 million salary.
