High-priced defensive end Mario Williams is feeling the heat more than he's been applying it four games into his first season with the Buffalo Bills. And Williams complained on Wednesday that a sore left wrist that's bothered him since the start of the season isn't helping. ''It's just lingering a little longer than I expected, and I just have to get back out there and try to deal with it and play better with it,'' Williams said, referring to an injury he sustained in the final week of the preseason. As for his production, 1 1/2 sacks, 11 tackles and a fumble recovery, Williams acknowledged he has to do better. ''I just got to have more impact, more of a role in things and get back to like I used to play,'' he said. The two-time Pro Bowl selection and feared pass-rusher isn't anywhere near the dominating form he had during his six seasons in Houston, where he set a franchise record with 53 sacks. That was the kind of productio...

Buffalo Bills reserve defensive tackle Spencer Johnson has been ruled out from playing at San Francisco this weekend because of an ankle injury. Coach Chan Gailey made the announcement after Johnson missed his second straight practice Thursday. Gailey said Johnson was hurt but continued playing in a 52-28 loss to New England on Sunday. The good, the bad and the ugly for the Buffalo Bills

In order to avoid writing a thousand cogent words about the travesty that was Week 4 at Ralph Wilson Stadium, I beefed up on my western films. Mainly my favorite: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. It’s a common favorite, I realize, but it does have the single best climactic duel in cinematic history. Plus it has a seriously motivating soundtrack. I feel like I could draw a pistol...

Video: Bills’ Steve Johnson stages fake engagement

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Steve Johnson is known for his off-beat sense of humor. While we sit around and say ‘ hey man focus on your season,’ he continues to promote his Street Games reality show. In this episode he talks a young lady into staging a fake engagement to the dismay of her mother. Please Click Here To Watch This Video

Buffalo Bills injury update: Offensive line woes

The Buffalo Bills learned this week that both starting offensive linemen Cordy Glenn and Kraig Urbik will miss about two weeks with ankle sprains. Both men start at offensive line, so the Bills may be using more protection schemes to keep quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick upright.  One thing that could benefit the Bills would be a solid run attack, keeping the defense in run mode could...

Bills Injury Report: Mario Williams Slowed by Wrist Injury

The Buffalo Bills and defensive lineman Mario Williams haven’t gotten off to the start they wanted. While there are multiple issues plaguing the Bills, Williams has been slowed by a wrist injury, reports Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com: "I'm a hands-on player and it's all about power in my game," Williams said via the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle...

The Buffalo Bills: still the “little brother” of the AFC East

Let’s just get it out of the way. Buffalo got embarrassed last week against the Patriots. I just want to take a few minutes to try and explain why fans are calling for Ryan Fitzpatrick, Chan Gailey, Buddy Nix, and even Mario Williams to get the axe. Fans are getting frustrated in Buffalo, despite the Bills being 2-2 and in the middle of the AFC East race. I’ll start with the...

Bills DT Williams fined by NFL for roughing Brady

Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams is questioning why he's been fined $15,000 by the NFL for a roughing the passer penalty against New England's Tom Brady. Williams revealed on Wednesday that he had been fined for a play that happened in the third quarter of a 52-28 loss to the Patriots on Sunday. Williams was flagged after he was knocked to the turf and his arm...

Buffalo Bills to stay out west; Gailey consulted with Harbaugh

Before making his decision to stay out west for the two-game road trip, Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey consulted with someone who has been there, and done that. That person is this week's opposing head coach, Jim Harbaugh. “San Francisco’s done it the last couple of years,” Gailey said. ”I talked with Harbaugh, and he thought there were some real positives in...

Buffalo Bills vs. San Francisco 49ers: Three Bold Predictions

The last time the Buffalo Bills entered Candlestick Park, the 2004 San Francisco 49ers started a struggling quarterback (not named Smith!) the day after Christmas on the way to a 2-14 season under then coach, Dennis Erickson.Drew Bledsoe played conservatively following a running game that pounded the Niners for 226 yards and a 41-7 score.Oh, how things change! In 2012, if you have...

Buffalo vs. New England: What's Changed Since Last Season

Change is too often no more than a well-sold wish, a dream advertised as reality that quickly becomes unraveled in the light of day.In Buffalo right now, it is this idea, this false hope inherent in the basic notion of change that has Bills fan feeling so much less fanatical after their 52-28 spanking Sunday against the New England Patriots. The Bills sold the a fantastic product...

Chick Fight: Clash of the Fans

Just when you thought the East Coast -West Coast battle ended with Tupac and Biggie, then came this week’s Chick Fight. In one corner, a die-hard female football fan with loads of “California Love” for her San Francisco 49ers. In the other corner, a Buffalo Bills believer who thinks QB Ryan Fitzpatrick “loves it when she calls him Big Poppa!” What never officially got...

The bye weeks begin: finding a week 5 fill in QB.

I’m responding to an email inquiry, in advance of the Thursday game again this week. With bye weeks starting this week (yes, we had a ‘mini bye’ last week) owners are faced with some difficult add/drop decisions for the first time this season. In an attempt to solve some of the problems, we’ll take a [...]
