Santonio Holmes (10) took shots at the New York media during a recent interview. New York Jets wide receiver, Santonio Holmes, is at it again with his controversial, yet comical comments. Today, during an interview on an NFL.com podcast, Holmes blamed the New York media for causing problems in the Jets locker room. Holmes, who seems to stir up more negative than positive talk, says that the media should be positive and support their teams. Well that is an interesting concept, but one that will never happen nor should it. Here is Holmes quote: “If you guys want to be — and this is for the New York media — if you guys want to be a part of our team and want to feel so important, be there to support us, not to try to break us down,” Holmes said. “Because (there’s) not one day that we all step in that locker room and we try to break each other down, that we talk bad about the way that person played, because it affects the team the way one person plays if they don’t play to perfection. “S...

Santonio Holmes to NY Media: ‘Be there to support us, not try to break us down’

Santonio Holmes is entering his third season with the Jets, but apparently he is still somewhat unfamiliar with the way things work in New York. The media are not your friend. Writers and reporters may try to build close relationships with the players so they can get quotes for their stories and successfully do their jobs, but they are just as happy with a locker room that is in...

Jets elect to cut their losses with safety Jim Leonhard

On December 6 2010, the New York Jets were beaten to within an inch of their football lives by the Patriots on Monday Night Football 45-3. The reason why the Jets needed to get even in the first place was credited to the sudden loss of safety Jim Leonhard who fractured his right tibia the Friday before the Monday night game. Santonio Holmes only wants the New York media to write nice things about the Jets

Jets receiver Santonio Holmes knows all about getting bad press. Mainly because he has a penchant for doing things that causes the media to write negative things about him. For example, remember just last season when he supposedly quit on the Jets in the final two minutes of their season-ending game? Holmes apparently even got into a shouting match with teammate Wayne Hunter during...

Rex Ryan talks about weight loss

Normally talkative New York Jets coach Rex Ryan is now ready to chat about his weight-loss surgery. Once weighing 348 pounds, Ryan wanted to wait until he lost at least 100 of that. More than two years after having the Lap-Band procedure, Ryan is down to about 243 pounds. Ryan said Thursday the device forces him to practice portion control. He still eats Mexican food, but where...

Holmes: 2-QB system no good in NFL

Jets mercurial wideout Santonio Holmes shared his thoughts with the NFL network crew on how he thinks Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow will coexist in New York.

Rex Ryan tips scales at 242 -- less than Tebow

You'll be seeing a lot less of Rex Ryan this season. The Jets' coach hasn't been one to shy away from blabbering for the microphone, but he's down in the blubber department. Ryan, like his brother and Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, underwent lap-band surgery two years ago. He said Thursday he's ready to enter a new weight class, having dropped a total...

AP source: Jets' Revis plans to report on time

Darrelle Revis is planning to show up for training camp. A person familiar with the decision says the New York Jets' All-Pro cornerback expects to report with the rest of his teammates next Thursday in Cortland, N.Y., rather than hold out in a contract dispute for the second time in three summers. Revis said last month he was uncertain if he would report for training camp while...

Report: Jets will replace Sanchez with Tebow in the red zone

Getty Images According to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com, team insiders have told him that the Jets plan on replacing quarterback Mark Sanchez in the red zone with Tim Tebow in order to help their running game have more success. I understand what the Jets are doing, but they’re opening themselves up for a mid-season quarterback controversy if and when Tebow looks better running the offense.

Meet the new, slimmer version of Rex Ryan again

Rex Ryan— the larger than life and bigger than an offensive tackle NFL personality— taped a television talk show Thursday and showed off the new slimmer version of himself. After dropping over 100 pounds and sporting a new hairstyle, the New York Jets head coach taped an interview with CBS-NY's "The Couch" (to be broadcast Friday) and looked like he stepped off...

Darrelle Revis expected to report to Jets camp on time

New York Jets Darrelle Revis is expected to report to the team's training camp July 26 with the rest of his teammates— thus avoiding his second holdout in three years. A person familiar with the All-Pro cornerback told USA Today Friday that he expects Revis to arrive at the Cortland, N.Y. camp on time and begin working out with the team. Revis previously expressed uncertainty...

Jets RB Joe McKnight To Begin Camp As A Third-Down Back?

ESPN believes Jets running back Joe McKnight will begin camp as the Jets' third-down back and have a "legitimate role on offense." McKnight admitted earlier this season that if he didn't have a good year he might not have a job in 2013. McKnight has 323 rush yards, 159 receiving yards and zero touchdowns over limited playing time over two seasons. Of his 323 rushing...

Regardless of what most sports books are predicting, we are carrying on as usual here at Turn On The Jets. For this week’s edition of New York Jets Fact Or False, we’ll...

Jets Won't Re-Sign Veteran FS Jim Leonhard

When Rex Ryan arrived with the Jets in 2009 he brought safety Jim Leonhard with him from Baltimore to be the quarterback of the defense. Now, Ryan has decided to move on without him. The Jets have ruled out re-signing the popular Leonard at the current time, a source confirmed. There is a slim chance the team would sign him down the road if they suffer injuries at the safety position...

The Johnny Report: Tim Tebow to play in the red zone

We are kicking around new features on TVF, and this may be one of the ones that sticks, or not. Tim Tebow of the New York Jets is currently the 2nd greatest backup QB in the NFL, squarely sitting behind the first in Mark Sanchez. Ideas about how Tebow might be used have been volleyed [...]

Jets QB Tim Tebow To Replace Mark Sanchez In Red Zone Schemes?

When the Jets acquired quarterback Tim Tebow, there were questions about how they would use him. They have been pretty vague but say he is the number two quarterback. According to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork, team insiders say the plan is to use Tebow in the red zone, where they can replace Sanchez with another player/blocker to bolster the running game. They haven't divulged...
