According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald,  Dolphins general manage Jeff Ireland doesn’t seem optimistic that they’ll be able to get a trade completed to acquire offensive tackle Brandon Albert from the Chiefs. Jeff Ireland says Brandon Albert trade “Is not going to really amount to much, my personal opinion.” But adds, “never say never.” — Armando Salguero (@ArmandoSalguero) April 27, 2013 The Dolphins never addressed the tackle position in the draft, so I’m not sure how they plan on protecting quarterback Ryan Tannehill.   Need NFL Tickets? Dolphins pass on Ryan Swope for a kicker?

Texas A&M fans know the connection Miami Dolphins Ryan Tannehill had with Ryan Swope. Swope was Tannehill’s escape value at A&M, because when everyone else was covered, Swope was open. So it’s no wonder why as the 2013 NFL draft closed in that many draft analysts mocked Tannehill to the Dolphins. The drum beat became even louder when the Dolphins traded away Davone Bess...

Report: Brandon Albert trade talks going cold between the Dolphins and Chiefs

According to ESPNs Chris Mortensen, it sounds like trade talks between the Chiefs and Dolphins might be going cold.  Offensive tackle Brandon Albert may end up staying in Kansas City after all. Things still sound “cold” on Branden Albert talks with #Chiefs and #Dolphins. @espnnfl — Chris Mortensen (@mortreport) April 26, 2013 I still believe something can get done at the...

Dolphins “shocked” they were able to get Dion Jordan

Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland told the Miami Herald that they wanted Dion Jordan more than anyone and felt like that had to trade up to land him. “He was a player that we coveted quite a bit,” Ireland said. “We was very high on our board. 2013 NFL Draft: Kansas City Chiefs select OT Eric Fisher first overall

For the first time in franchise history, the Kansas City Chiefs held the first round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. The Chiefs are expected to ship OT Branden Albert out of town via trade and the team has used the first overall selection to pick Central Michigan tackle Eric Fisher. Kansas City laid out a smokescreen in recent weeks by working out West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith...

Ireland Discusses Jordan Move

The Dolphins caused quite a stir when they moved up from 12th to third in the first round of the draft after a trade with the Oakland Raiders and then selected Oregon defensive end/outside linebacker Dion Jordan. GM Jeff Ireland discussed the transaction and the players shortly after the pick was announced.

Grading round 1 of the Dolphins draft.

Well, it is safe to say not many of us ‘experts’ saw this coming. Jeff Ireland is wheeling and dealing like a man possessed. Jeff Ireland reportedly began the trade up process targeting a certain WR many DolFans have been drooling over. However, the Bills refused to trade their pick within their own division. Instead of standing pat, which we fans have become accustomed too,...

Kansas City Chiefs select Eric Fisher, Grade: A-

It’s tough to get too excited about Eric Fisher as the No. 1 pick, but it’s a solid fit and fills a need. Fisher may start his career at right tackle if the Chiefs hang on to Branden Albert, but Fisher’s future is definitely on the left side. When you consider what Alex Smith did behind a solid line and a great running game in San Francisco, this could help the Chiefs turn...

Dolphins draft strategy: target playmakers

When the comissioner announced that the Miami Dolphins had acquired the third overall pick, the first player that came to mind was offensive tackle Lane Johnson. I know I wasn't alone there. Based on the Dolphins draft strategy of the past, it seemed likely that the team would once again draft for need and upgrade at the most glaring hole on the roster. Instead, Jeff Ireland...
