Newly acquired RB Brandon Jackson is moving up the depth chart for the Cleveland Browns. Jackson, who was a member of the Super Bowl winning Green Bay Packers last season, has now climbed into the number two role on the depth chart for the Browns, backing up RB Peyton Hillis.
Jackson played a pivotal role for the Packers last season after RB Ryan Grant went down in week one. Brandon Jackson rushed for 703 yards and three scores last year and he proved capable catching the ball out of the backfield, logging 43 receptions. The Packers decided not to bring back Jackson after drafting Hawaii product, Alex Smith in Aprils’ draft.
The move to sign Jackson has to be an indication that Cleveland is not completely sold on RB Montario Hardesty. The Browns selected him in last year’s draft, but the franchise had to be aware of his persistent injury issues. Hardesty missed all of last season after suffering a knee injury in training camp.
