PLAYERS: Dallas Clark
TEAMS: Baltimore Ravens
The regular season is just around the corner and the Baltimore Ravens are still making some big moves. Brandon Stokely (Photo credit: Evan Habeeb/USA TODAY Sports) The Ravens signed wide receiver Brandon Stokely to a one-year contract in Baltimore, reuniting him with the team that drafted him in the fourth round of the 1999 NFL Draft. Stokely was brought in to hopefully help bridge the gaps in the Ravens pass game. The team parted ways with wide receiver Anquan Boldin in March and since have struggled to find solid receivers. Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones are looking to be the go-to wide receivers, but finding that third one has been a challenge. With Dennis Pitta out for the season and Ed Dickson unsure of his return, the Ravens have also taken a big hit at the tight end position. Cue Dallas Clark. Dallas Clark (Photo credit: Kim Klement/USA TODAY Sports) The Baltimore Ravens also signed tight end Dallas Clark on Tuesday to a one-year contract. Clark spent last season in Tampa Bay, but is known for his nine years in Indianapolis as one of Peyton Manning’s most reliable receivers. Stokely and Clark bring some much needed experience to the Baltimore Ravens’ offense. In addition to football experience, they two have also played together under offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell. From 2003-2006, all three men were a part of the Indianapolis Colts organization. Tuesday marks the first day of practice in which Stokely, Clark, and Caldwell will be reunited on the football field. Stokely’s first day of practice with the Ravens was Monday and he began his second stint in Baltimore with a touchdown pass from Joe Flacco, just minutes after taking the field. The wide receiver has not played with a team since being defeated by the Ravens in the “Mile High Miracle” game in January. Although he started practice with a touchdown, he was still a little rusty. After a few weeks with the team and learning the Ravens’ schemes on offense, Stokely should be fully acclimated. Ravens fans couldn’t be happier to have these two veterans in purple uniforms this season and it seems as though they may feel the same. “There’s not a better organization in the league,” Stokely admitted. “To have the opportunity to play here again – you can’t pass the up.” Clark will take the field on Tuesday and is expected to address the media following his first day of practice. Baltimore Ravens: Stokely and Clark Signings Will Pay Dividends
