Just when you thought Matt Leinart had played his way out of the NFL, it looks as if he will get at least one more shot. The Buffalo Bills will sign the former Heisman Trophy winner after his workout for the team on Sunday. Filing to @FOXSports1: Bills to sign QB Matt Leinart after workout today. — Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) August 25, 2013 The Bills needed to sign another quarterback after Kevin Kolb left Saturday’s preseason game with concussion-like symptoms. First round pick E.J. Manuel had a knee procedure after the team’s second preseason game that may force him to miss a week or two in the regular season. The Bills had to go to undrafted free agent rookie Jeff Tuel who was the only healthy quarterback on the roster. Tuel went 10-17 for 63 yards in the 30-7 loss to the Redskins on Saturday afternoon. This will be Leinart’s fourth team since 2009. He played in two games last year for the Raiders and racked up a quarterback rating of 11.3 in those games.
