Cowboys HC Jason Garrett told reporters on Thursday that veteran G Brian Waters will travel with the team to Kansas City for their match up against the Chiefs, via the Star-Telegram.
Waters was able to get some work in with the first-team offense, but it appears as though he’ll be a game-time decision. Dallas is reportedly still trying to figure out what Waters is capable of at this point in time.
After all, Waters just signed with the Cowboys a little over a week ago. If he’s unable to play this weekend, Dallas will likely to turn to Mackenzy Bernadeau at guard.
Waters, 36, sat out all of the 2012 season and still managed to secure a one-year contract worth $3 million just less than week before the start of the regular season. That’s honestly incredible, but he was more than just a serviceable player the last time he suited up for the Patriots back in 2011. Should Waters sit out another week, it appears as though he’s close enough to being in game-shape that he could play in Week 3.
