After the 2009 season, the Philadelphia Eagles released 30-year old running back Brian Westbrook, who had earned two Pro Bowl selections in eight seasons with the team.
He spent the 2010 season as a backup on the San Francisco 49ers, where he carried 77 times for 340 yards (4.4 yards per carry) and caught 16 passes for 150 yards. In two games against the Cardinals, he carried 36 times for 216 yards.
Now, at the ripe old age of 31, he want to return to the Philadelphia Eagles.
“I talk to coach Reid every week or so,” Westbrook told Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia. “We always talk, and I would love to be back in Philly. So we’ll see how things go. I think I can help out. I think they have a very good group of young guys on this team at every position, but I still think I can help this team win.”
The Eagles might need a quality backup running back in 2011. Jerome Harrison is a free agent and has been tendered at second round compenation. Eldra Buckley may or may not make the team next ...
