The Denver Broncos offensive line remains a question mark and will remain that way until their fist regular season game. Protecting Peyton Manning is priority number one, but a little luck wouldn’t hurt. So far luck has eluded the offensive line and Manning could be the one who pays the price. Right guard Chris Kuper's future is in doubt after multiple surgeries on his ankle. He was unable to participate in on-field work or conditioning drills this offseason from surgery on the ankle, but the team is still holding out hope he will be back for training camp. Center J.D. Walton's surgery Monday takes him out of commission until late October or November, however, if he continues to have setbacks or any issues in his rehab, he could be out for the season. The signings of guard Louis Vasquez' and center Dan Koppen could help, but hardly an ideal situation for the Broncos. Koppen had 13 starts there last season, has been working out and is familiar with Manning. According to Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post, the interior of the offensive line could be problematic if the starters do not return. Legwold writes: ‘At least some of their brethren in the league believe they better take a look at Clady in person, on the field, in game situations, post-shoulder surgery before wrestling too much more over a long-term deal. Clady is the team's designated franchise player — a one-year deal for $9.828 million. It's a deal that is guaranteed when Clady signs it. Clady and his representatives have turned down a five-year, $50 million deal from the team last year, and the Broncos haven't shown much desire to move off that offer all that much since. Opposing defenses are certainly going to come after Manning through the "A" gaps on either side of the center as much as possible. And a team with young running backs at the top of the depth chart is now going to need Ronnie Hillman and Montee Ball to be up to the task in pass protection more than ever.’
