ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Denver Broncos have released RB Willis McGahee.
“I knew it was going to happen,” said McGahee, per Josina Anderson. “It is what it is. They are going younger.“
The Broncos reduced his reps during this week’s minicamp. Ronnie Hillman and rookie Montee Ball both received more work than the veteran running back, so it’s not all that surprising that they would look to move without him.
“I’m always on the bubble,” said McGahee regarding his status with the team earlier in the week, via the Denver Post.
McGahee, 31, was set to make $2.5 million for the upcoming season. To make matters worse, he’s coming off of knee surgery and a broken leg, so there are plenty of question marks regarding productivity moving forward.
