It looks like Ty Warren won’t be cut or retire — the veteran defensive tackle agreed on a restructured contract with the Denver Broncos on Wednesday, the team announced.

“Ultimately we met in a middle ground and got the deal done,” Warren said.

Details of the contract – including it’s length and compensation – are not yet known.  Today was Warren’s first time practicing with the team since being placed on injured reserve with a triceps injury prior to the 2011 season.

Warren met with the media on Wednesday and admitted that felt bad about missing all of last season and being compensated for it, “I do have a conscience,” he said.

Warren, 31, is a 6-5, 310 lbs., ten-year veteran who was originally drafted in the first round (13th overall) by the New England Patriots in the 2003 NFL Draft.  Over the past nine seasons, Warren recorded 373 tackles, 20.5 sacks, won two Super Bowls (XXXVII and XXXIX) and was selected to a Pro Bowl (2007).

Stuart Zaas noted –

Warren adds depth and competition to an interior defensive line that added defensive tackles Justin Bannan and Derek Wolfe via free agency and the draft, respectively — along with the return of Kevin Vickerson, who missed most of the 2011 season with an injury. Ben Garland returns to compete for a roster spot as well, after the 1st Lt. was granted separation from the U.S. Air Force. First-year tackle Sealver Siliga and third-year player Mitch Unrein round out the unit.

Signing Warren increases the likihood of Denver having full attendance during mandatory minicamp next week (June 12-14th).  The team is currently negotiating contracts with kicker Matt Prater, rookies quarterback Brock Osweiler and running back Ronnie Hillman.  The Broncos hope to have all players signed before minicamp to avoid any potential holdouts.

It’s good to see Warren and the Broncos coming to terms.  Jack Del Rio likes his interior linemen big, and Warren’s a big one.
