The Denver Broncos have been kicking the tires on a number of running backs including Ahmad Bradshaw, Shonn Greene, and Rashard Mendenhall. Greene and Mendenhall have signed elsewhere and Bradshaw is still healing from foot surgery and the Pittsburgh Steelers who are considered front runners for his services. At this stage of free agency the NFL Draft starts to figure into the equation of acquiring a running back. Getting close to the draft, VP John Elway could elect to go searching in the draft for some help. Then after the draft sign a veteran to add ore depth. According to Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post, one thing is for sure; the Broncos aren’t happy with what they have now and want to upgrade the position. Legwold writes: ‘The Broncos will not keep status quo at running back. Both Moreno and McGahee are coming back from injuries. McGahee suffered a ligament injury to go with a fracture; Moreno had a stem-cell treatment on his knee following the season. By the time training camp opens, the Broncos will have at least one more back who they believe could take carries as a potential starter in the offense. They have taken a look in free agency, most notably with Rashard Mendenhall. Mendenhall was scheduled for a visit to the Broncos' Dove Valley complex last month until the Arizona Cardinals told Mendenhall their contract offer was only good if Mendenhall didn't leave and visit the Broncos. The Broncos also took long looks at Ahmad Bradshaw and Shonn Greene. Greene signed a three-year, $10 million deal with the Tennessee Titans that included a $2.5 million signing bonus, totals the Broncos weren't looking to reach. Bradshaw is still unsigned. When healthy, he is just the kind of hard-edged runner the Broncos want. But he just got out of a walking boot last month after surgery to insert a screw in his right foot to repair a fracture.’     var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
