It’s exactly what a team doesn’t want to happen, yet, it’s the nature of the game. Injuries can be killers, especially in the playoffs, and the Denver Broncos may have sustained a serious injury Sunday night. While the Broncos held on to beat the San Diego Chargers 24-17 in the Divisional round, they also lost starting cornerback Chris Harris Jr. due to a knee injury. And according to the Denver Post’s Mike Klis, the team fears that injury is severe. Harris left the game with eight minutes to play in the third quarter and didn’t return. He’s been taken to get an MRI this morning and the Broncos are awaiting results. Missing Harris would be huge considering Philip Rivers was able to pick apart a depleted secondary without him in the game. Quentin Jammer, the 34-year old backup, was burned numerous times by rookie speedster Keenan Allen and there’s no doubt Tom Brady of the New England Patriots will look to exploit those weaknesses as well. If Harris can’t play, the Broncos could line up Jammer as the starter opposite of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, or they could start Champ Bailey, who is again healthy. Though, Bailey has been used in the nickel role as of late, meaning another player would have to move into that spot, possibly Jammer or Kayvon Webster. The Broncos and Patriots face each other in the AFC Championship game on Sunday, January 19 at 1 p.m. MT. (We’ll bring an update on the MRI when it’s released.) Like this?
