It’s been the topic du jour in Cleveland all season, and this week was no different as the status of Peyton Hillis went from doubtful to questionable late in the week. Coming into Sunday, the Browns thought the running back would be able to play. They also expected his backup, Montario Hardesty, to be active and able to play on Sunday in Cincy. It’s now official, as both Hillis and Hardesty were listed as active this morning. Browns PR man Dan Murphy first tweeted the news:

Browns RBs Peyton Hillis, Montario Hardesty & Chris Ogbonnaya are all active. All 3 are expected to play today against the Bengals.

Hillis has played in only four games this season and has not seen action since Week 6 against Oakland, when the initial hamstring issue first flared up. Hardesty, who’s been dealing with a calf injury, has not seen the field since Week 8, another loss in the Bay Area to the 49ers. Oh, by the way, the third running back listed in Murphy’s tweet is coming off a 21 carry, 115 yard performance last week, which neither of the aforementioned headliners have managed to date. Regardless, it should be a boost to quarterback Colt McCoy to have a full stable of running backs behind him.
