The Cleveland Browns have reportedly signed quarterback Alex Tanney to their active roster, acquiring him from the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad. This sourced report comes from The Dallas Morning News. Earlier on Tuesday, Tanney tweeted that he was going to begin a “new chapter” with Cleveland, a team that is in need of a reserve quarterback folllowing the concussion sustained by Jason Campbell this past Sunday in the loss to Pittsburgh. Thankful for everything the Jones family and Dallas staff has done for me. Great organization. New chapter starts in Cleveland today #Browns — Alex Tanney (@AlexTanney) November 26, 2013 Tanney went undrafted out of Division III Monmouth (Ill.) in 2012. He signed with Kansas City and after the final preseason game the Chiefs placed him on injured reserve with a finger injury. The Chiefs cut Tanney in May, and the Cowboys signed him early in training camp in mid-July. Tanney’s offensive numbers in college make him one of the greatest Division III quarterbacks ever, but he is known more for being the “trick-shot” quarterback due to a viral video from several years ago which show the quarterback throwing the football through or into a variety of objects. The Browns, as you may recall, are no strangers to YouTube sensations coming to Berea, providing a tryout to Norwegian kicker “Kickalicious,” Håvard Rugland.
