Browns coach Pat Shurmur indicated Monday that he'll keep second-year pro Thad Lewis as his developmental third quarterback, meaning either Colt McCoy or Seneca Wallace will have to go. "There's something to Thad that I think is worth developing,'' said Shurmur, who coached Lewis in 2010 in St. Louis, where he spent most of the season on the practice squad. Shurmur was impressded with Lewis' ability to come in off the bench in the fourth quarter in Detroit and produce a touchdown and a field goal in his two drives. Shurmur acknowledged that his desire to hang onto Lewis will impact McCoy and Wallace. "Yeah, I think so,'' he said. "Theres no telling what's going to happen at this point. Weve got a few days left here, close to 20, before weve got to make the final decision.

Shurmur: James-Michael Johnson Might Start for Fujita
Getting any kind of commitment from an NFL head coach prior to roster cutdowns is a miracle. This is not to criticize Pat Shurmur. There is a lot of football and a lot of moving pieces between now and the opening week against the Philadelphia Eagles. One piece that won’t be moving is Scott Fujita serving his suspension. One of the biggest questions the Browns needed to answer this...
