The Buccaneers appear to be inching closer to a deal with the New York Jets for cornerback Darrelle Revis. Some reports already have the Bucs penciled in as having a deal in place to offer Revis which seems logical. Many have even suggested that Revis is aware of this said deal. However, with the league’s anti-tampering rules, it can not be the Bucs front office that reaches out to him so perhaps there is another way, right? As heard on the airwaves of local sports talk and seen on several social media outlets (message boards Twitter, etc.), almost everyone suggested players (primarily Vincent Jackson) should reach out to him or his agent. Why Jackson? They share the same agent so one would think he is working for the Bucs in the back end to relay info. That certainly could be true. But that is against league rules as well. Under the section labeled “players,” the league’s anti-tampering policy states the following: “No club, nor any person employed by or otherwise affiliated with a club, is permitted to tamper with a player who is under contract to or whose exclusive negotiating rights are held by another club.” Further along in the policy, it goes on to say that no one from any club should be “involved in a private meeting or conversation with a player (or his representative) who is under contract.” That line eliminates the theory of Vincent Jackson going through his agent to start a dialogue between both sides. At least per the rules. Now there’s a belief that players and coaches somehow find ways to communicate with one another. Lots of deals have gotten done so quickly in the past, many have questioned the truthfulness of that team or player on holding up their end of the tampering policy. It has been reported (or rumored) that both the Bucs and the Jets will meet face to face during the owners meetings this week in Arizona. Of course there is nothing set in stone but several outlets are speculating that talks for Revis are expected to heat up. This can only get more interesting from here on out.   The post Bucs players can’t talk with Darrelle Revis appeared first on The Bay Cave.
