TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers guard Gabe Carimi will miss Sunday's game against the New England Patriots because of illness, and guard Carl Nicks will be a game-time decision. Carimi, who was acquired in a trade with the Chicago Bears in June, missed practice this week because of the illness. He started in the Bucs' losses to the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints. "Yeah, he's going to miss the game," Schiano said Friday. "It's that serious. ... I think he'll be back relatively soon." Meanwhile, guard Carl Nicks' condition appears optimistic for Sunday. The two-time Pro Bowl player has tried to get back in football shape since he missed the Bucs' first two games after fighting MRSA and a troublesome blister on his left foot. Nicks only played in seven games last season before missing the rest of the year with a torn plantar plate in his left foot. "He went all three days, limited," Schiano said. "But he did go. ... That's the best weve been in a long time. "If he's like he is now, I suspect he'll play. But we just have to wait and see how everything responds each day. ... I dont even know if he can (play) yet."
