The Bucs add depth, and a potential starter, by trading a 2014 sixth round pick to the Chicago Bears for offensive lineman Gabe Carimi per multiple reports. The Bears selected Carimi 29th overall in the 2011 draft. The Chicago Sun-Times first broke the story Sunday evening citing sources that stated Carimi would be traveling to Tampa Bay for a physical on Monday to make it official. Carimi has come under a lot of scrutiny in Chicago as of late when he decided to train on his own in Arizona and not be with the team at OTAs. Bears general manager Phil Emery voiced his thoughts on the situation via the Chicago Sun-Times: Certainly he wants to play and wants to play well. I think that’s why he’s approached his training that way. We’d like all our players to be here, but Gabe made a decision that was best for Gabe so every individual player has to make those decisions. The three-year lineman out of Wisconsin started 10 games at right tackles and three at right guard last season. Injuries have plagued his career since week 2 of the 2011 season. Carimi will be greeted by a familiar face in Tampa Bay. The Bucs offensive line coach is Bob Bostad, who was Carimi’s line coach at Wisconsin. The trade is pending Monday’s physical.
